by NextWorth on August 9, 2012

There are a few ways to save when it comes to back-to-school shopping: reuse last year’s stuff, sell last year’s stuff to afford this year’s, or find great deals on this year’s stuff. Actually, when it comes to buying new electronics for school, we recommend a careful combination of the three!

Selling old electronics is a great way to get extra back-to-school cash. However, you can make that cash go farther if you spend it wisely. Whether you need a new laptop, smartphone or calculator this year, here are a few places you can find a great deal:

Laptops, Tablets

College students needing a new laptop or tablet can head to the Apple Store to get a $100 or $50 gift card with the purchase of a Mac or iPad. Plus, with their education pricing, you can get a great deal on a brand new Mac!

If you’re a Dell user, grab a new laptop from them and receive a free Xbox or a $200 gift card to use for accessories. Or perhaps it’s a Gateway you want? Target has a special on 15″ laptops this week–plus while you’re there you can trade in any old electronics you have for a gift card to put toward the new one.

Smartphones

Both AT&T and Verizon have back-to-school deals to fit any budget. Whether you want an LG, Samsung or Droid, there’s a deal to make your student smile. Plus, you want them to call home regularly, don’t you?

Graphing Calculators

Whether your supply list calls for a TI-84, TI-83 or TI-Nspire, Walmart has a calculator for you. They’ve slashed prices up to 20% to help make the necessary supplies affordable for students.

Of course, heading back to school is about education and learning—but you’ll have more fun doing it with these electronics, right?
